Amy Tress

Amy Tress enjoys a busy career as a violinist, chamber musician and teacher. She is 1st violinist of the Solem Quartet with whom she has performed across Europe and Asia, and regularly appears at major concert venues such as the Queen Elizabeth and Wigmore Hall. The Solems were Junior Fellows at the Royal Northern College of Music 2015-17 and are currently Ensemble in Residence at Liverpool University and Aberystwyth MusicFest. They have given workshops for Live Music Now in schools and care homes across the UK, and have broadcast multiple times on BBC Radio 3.

Amy has performed numerous concertos across the UK and played as a soloist and chamber mu-sician at festivals including IMS Prussia Cove, Wye Valley Chamber Music, Edinburgh Festival, Marryat Chamber Festival, Academie de Maurice Ravel and Mendelssohn-on-Mull. She also played with various chamber orchestras including Britten Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata, London Contemporary Orchestra, 12 ensemble and London Sinfonietta.

Amy has won many awards including Oxford University’s Gibbs Prize for the highest 1st class de-gree and the Royal College of Music Violin Competition & Bach Prize. As well as RCM, Amy teaches violin at Eton College and directs La Mariette Junior String Masterclasses in France.
